Guaranteed Standard Issue (GSI)

Through Belton Financial Services’ ELITE Suite™ of insurance products, companies can enhance the group insurance programs available to their key employees and executives by combining them with individual products under a special grouped arrangement. Not only are these plans available with limited medical underwriting, but also at a much lower cost of insurance.

The ELITE Suite™ of insurance products include:
• ELITE Long-Term Disability™ or ELITE LTD™
• ELITE Critical Illness™
• ELITE Life™
• ELITE Wait List™

Belton Financial Services Ltd. has been implementing their ELITE™ Guaranteed Standard Issue (GSI) programs for 15 years and understands the complexity and communication challenges they present. Through our unique process and communication material, we ensure a smooth transition and greater buy-in from employees involved in these programs.

The ELITE™ insurance program offers many advantages to both employees and your company, including:

• Integrated communication strategy
• Simplified enrollment process
• Limited medical underwriting requirements
• Discounted premiums – up to 25% less than comparable individual programs
• Coverage for otherwise uninsurable employees
• Coverage is portable – you can take it with you if you leave the company
• Superior definitions – more comprehensive coverage
• Cost is locked-in for the life of the contract which stabilizes a portion of your insurance costs
• Enhanced coverage above what is available on traditional group plans

Elite Long-Term Disability™
Disability insurance, either in conjunction with Life insurance coverage, or on its own, provides protection against accidents and illness that prevent you from earning an income through regular employment.

The financial reality of a disability is that your day to day expenses and bills continue to arrive, often at a greater pace than before. Being able to replace your income on a tax-free basis during this period of disability means you can focus on what is most important – your health.

The ELITE LTD™ program provides key members of your organization with an enhanced benefit, higher non-evidence limits, and better definitions at a lower cost of insurance than a personally owned disability income protection plan.

Elite Critical Illness™
The financial support offered through a Critical Illness Insurance policy allows employees who become critically ill to focus on recovering and managing their illness.

You may already have life insurance, which pays a benefit upon death, or disability insurance, which replaces lost income. Your healthcare plan may also reimburse medical expenses. But Critical Illness Insurance does more – it provides a lump sum payment if you survive the event at least 30 days. You can use it in any way you wish, such as private nursing or medical care, modifications to a home, or childcare costs. Payment is dependent upon meeting clear medical definitions.

Unfortunately, even the healthiest people get struck with illness. The good news is that medical advances have dramatically increased the odds of surviving critical illnesses such as heart attack, stroke and cancer. Life insurance is sold on the premise that you are going to die, Critical Illness coverage exists because you’re going to live.

Elite Life™
Life insurance is often required for key members of your organization to cover capital accounts or some other corporate liability. The reality is that not all employees who require this life insurance protection can qualify medically for this coverage. Our ELITE Life™ insurance plan allows a group of eligible employees to access individual Term policies on a grouped basis with limited medical underwriting requirements.

Elite Wait-List™
The current Canadian healthcare system provides excellent care for conditions that are considered urgent—accident and emergency, childbirth and cancer treatment. However, if your condition is classed as “non-urgent”, you could face countless months waiting for a diagnosis or treatment.

Waiting for access to medical services in the public healthcare system is more than inconvenient and can cause a deterioration of health, loss of income, anxiety and a decreased quality of life.

Did you know?

  • A common wait time for a heart bypass is over a year.
  • The average wait time for a CT or MRI Scan is 3 to 6 months.
  • You could wait 2 years or more for a hip or knee replacement.
  • These times are only after you have seen a specialist, which can take 6 to 12 months.
  • If tests and investigations are required, you may have to wait even longer to be diagnosed.
